THE 2nd BIRCHFIELD HARRIERS

10km POPPY TRAIL RUN

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30th 2017 : 14.00

CAMBA EVENTS is delighted to be once again involved with the second running of this event – Birchfield Harriers having taken over the organisation of the Aldridge Poppy Run last year.  The course will be approx. 10kms in length starting from Aldridge Airport, and after taking in the old airport will lead you through Hayhead Wood, Cuckoo’s Nook and The Dingle before returning to the airport. The trail route encounters stiles, steps, narrow foot bridge crossings ans beautiful woodland trails.  Run under UK Athletics and Trail Running Association rules, the race is open to all competitors aged over 16.

OCTOBER 8 : In the inaugrual ladies race this afternoon, FRANCES VICKERS led the runners home in 44.35, followed by JANE BARTHOLOMEW (Sparkhill Harriers) in 46.02 and LOUISA DAVIDSON (Birchfield Harriers) just 10 seconds behind in 46.12

OCTOBER 8 : Congratulations to JOAKIM KORSLUND (Aston University Gazelles) on winning the first Birchfield Harriers Poppy Run this afternoon, in a time of 39.16. Runner-up was GURMAL SINGH (Tipton Harriers) in 40.40 with PAUL BURKE (Aldridge RC) third in 41.43.

OCTOBER 8 : On behalf of BIRCHFIELD HARRIERS and THE ALDRIDGE BRANCH OF THE BRITISH LEGION POPPY APPEAL our grateful thanks to all the runners who supported this new event to-day. The initial brief was for 100 entrants for the first race and we managed to attract almost 50% more than that. We hope you all enjoyed the run, and we trust you will be back again in 2017.
